Friends of Adur SSSI – Riverside Litter Pick
The Adur River around Shoreham is a very special and protected site – known as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
This intertidal stretch of river and site of mud flats and salt marsh is a haven for many birds providing rich nutrition and also roosting places. Regular inhabitants such as Oyster Catchers and Little Egrets are joined by migratory and over-wintering birds such as Redshank and Lapwings and many more. It is also a much loved destination with its beautiful scenery and easy accessibility from Shoreham By Sea.
The river is a living system that supports multiple habitats and species but it is struggling with multiple challenges and threats. Friends of Adur SSSI is a growing community of River guardians trying to make a difference and help promote the recovey of the river and its habitats.
Join us for a morning of litter picking and nature immersion. All equipment will be provided but please dress appropriately. All welcome including dogs that can stay on the path.
